This weekend, we visited CFB Borden for the Borden Air Show, and was it ever a great show!
We saw a variety of performers, and they were still going strong when we had to leave. We got to see the Chinook helicopter and the Skyhawks (paratroopers – although it was too windy for them to jump), a Griffon helicopter, the Canadian Harvard Aerobatic Team, Manfred Radius doing sailplane aerobatics, Gord Price in his YAK-50 doing some crazy stunts, and a CF-18 Hornet Fighter Jet (cover your ears for that one!).
There were also far more activities for the kids and other things to see and do than I remember from the last time we visited. There were several bouncy houses and obstacle courses to keep the kids busy, some planes on display that you could explore, and lots of food vendors. We didn’t get a chance to tour the museum unfortunately.
Plan to make a day of it, bring lawn chairs, water and lots of sunscreen. It’s alot of fun for the whole family. Keep in mind however, that there can be lots of down time between performances, so little ones may have trouble staying interested. Once the planes show up though, they’ll be riveted!
