Mason Jar Brownies

My husband has a significant birthday happening this month.  I won’t give it away, but it’s a pretty good one.

We’re headed out on a picnic for his birthday dinner.  The weather has been beautiful, and since we’ll be eating in restaurants twice this weekend, I thought some good homemade (-ish) food was in order for our family celebration.

We needed something portable for his birthday cake though.  So through my Pinterest browsing, I discovered just how many things you can bake in perfect single-sized, very portable mason jars.  Bingo!  I decided to try baking brownies in mason jars.

Here’s a look at exactly how we did it:

The important thing to remember is to not fill the jars too full (between 1/4 to 1/2 full) and to bake them for about 20 minutes at 350F.  I did have to keep a close eye on them the last few minutes because the edges seemed to be cooking much faster than the inside.

Add some birthday candles, and we have single-serving birthday cakes to celebrate my husbands 40th birthday!

I wished you’ve taken photos which will show the brownies more. They seem to look delicious but couldn’t see much because of those letters.

I agree — I wish I had been able to get better photos! Most of my shots weren’t great. I never realized how hard it would be to take a photo through a jar, lol! I probably should have made one jar filled to the top, so that you could see the brownie. Blogger problems :-). Next time I’ll be sure to do that!

That is great and they can eat that anywhere. Thankfully mason jars don’t break easily.
