Foster Care Parent Pay & Reimbursements

Yesterday I showed you how much it cost for us to become approved for adoption (Adopt-Ready) in Ontario, Canada. Today I’m discussing the pay and reimbursements we received as Foster Care/Kinship Care parents.

I’ve heard people time and again talk about how foster parents are only “in it for the money”, and I’ve also heard the opposite — that the government pays foster parents very little, if anything. Neither of those statements are accurate, at least not according to our experience.

I’m taking you through the per diem rates, mileage, and other reimbursements that we received while we were kinship care parents (foster care parents) for a year. The numbers might surprise you!
